Child-Centered

Psychological Relocation Support

Supporting families through the emotional landscape of migration

Relocating to a new country means rebuilding life from the ground up. While this transition can be challenging even for adults, it often creates far more complex—and less visible—impacts for children. That’s why it is essential to approach migration through the eyes of a child.

As a therapist who has been living in Barcelona for over four years, I have extensive knowledge of the cultural adaptation process, local education system, and available social support networks that migrating families often navigate. I work with a child-centered approach, recognizing that migration is not just a physical relocation, but an emotional, social, and relational transformation.

Children quickly sense changes around them, yet they may struggle to make sense of those changes. A new language, a different school system, painful goodbyes, and unfamiliar social rules—these can deeply affect a child’s sense of safety, identity development, and emotional resilience. At the same time, the stress carried by parents often resonates with children in subtle yet impactful ways. Migration calls for a restructuring not only of individual lives, but of the entire family system.

This counseling process can begin before the move or serve as a supportive space after relocation. Through sessions tailored to your family's specific needs, we can:

  • Anticipate potential challenges based on your child’s age and developmental stage,

  • Develop strategies to ease the adaptation process,

  • Learn how to connect with the local school system and resources,

  • Strengthen family communication to navigate this transition together, with more confidence and clarity.

My goal is to ensure that, throughout this journey of transformation, both you and your children feel emotionally supported and secure.
